Augusta Partners with Causeway Technologies to Revolutionize Traffic Management During Broad Street Improvement Project

AUGUSTA, GA (March 24, 2026) – The City of Augusta Engineering Department is proud to announce a new partnership with Causeway one.network, a leading digital platform for roadwork coordination and communication, to support Augusta’s Broad Street Improvement Project. This collaboration, Causeway one.network’s first road agency partnership in Georgia, aims to minimize construction disruptions and enhance safety for residents and commuters throughout the duration of the Broad Street Improvement Project.

By utilizing Causeway’s industry-leading road management technology, Augusta Engineering can bring real-time visibility to roadwork and traffic impacts, providing a clearer picture and enhancing communication between city departments, contractors and the public.

The Causeway one.network platform acts as a digital bridge between construction crews and the driving public. Key features of the pilot include:

Real-Time Navigation Integration: Live data from Broad Street construction zones will be integrated directly into leading navigation apps, including Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps.

Enhanced Safety: By providing drivers with advanced notice of lane shifts and work zones, the platform creates a safer environment for both roadway workers and pedestrians.

Improved Coordination: City engineers and public works teams can better manage utility conflicts and weather-related schedule changes, reducing the overall impact on downtown traffic flow.

“We recognize that major infrastructure projects can be a challenge, and we’ve heard from our downtown stakeholders that uncertainty around construction can be stressful,” said Malik Hameed, PhD, PE, director of engineering for the City of Augusta. “By partnering with Causeway, we are bringing state-of-the-art traffic coordination to Broad Street to help make navigating downtown a seamless experience. This solution ensures our community has the most accurate, up-to-the-minute information to move around with ease, allowing everyone to continue enjoying our downtown while seeing the exciting progress of Broad Street’s transformation for themselves.”

“We’re excited to partner with the City of Augusta, Georgia — an innovator that’s embracing new ways to deliver safer, smarter streets,” said Paul Madeira, chief international growth officer at Causeway one.network. “We’re especially proud to support this TIA-funded initiative as our first project in Georgia, helping the City make an everyday, tangible impact for Augusta’s residents. Together, we’re strengthening how information is shared and how work gets done across the community.”

The Broad Street Improvement Project is designed to revitalize Augusta’s historic heart, providing a major streetscape and infrastructure upgrade to Broad Street featuring new sidewalks and handicap ramps, parking, raised bike lanes, landscaping and trees, and a redesigned James Brown Linear Park including a series of vibrant, art-driven elements that celebrate the legacy of the Godfather of Soul.

The partnership with Causeway one.network is one of several ways the City of Augusta Engineering Department is enhancing communication and transparency during the project. To keep the community inspired and informed, the Engineering Department is significantly increasing its outreach efforts through more frequent communications and website and social media updates. This project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it is an investment in a more vibrant, accessible and connected downtown for every resident, business owner and visitor alike.
